State Societies
- New Hampshire Medical Society
-
Historically, this Society has promoted the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health. The passing of time does not change that concept. The state of the art and the scope of science augments the thrust toward the betterment of public health to include an active participation in the legislative process at all levels of government, as the Society seeks to carry out its purpose for the "betterment of public health." These objectives are attainable (1) by federating and bringing into one compact state organization every physician licensed to practice in New Hampshire, and (2) by uniting with similar associations/societies in other states as a part of the American Medical Association.
The goals of the society are:
- To improve the quality and availability of health care in New Hampshire by keeping the public well informed on health matters by means of mailings, news media, and a physicians speakers bureau;
- To strengthen the New Hampshire Medical Society and its influence on state health matters;
- To promote the availability of medical care at a reasonable cost as a right rather than a privilege but also upholding the right of physicians to be paid a reasonable and realistic fee for their services.
